Port Harcourt — The Federal Government has been charged to set up modalities towards banning all petrol-powered and combustion engine vehicles in the country, by 2035
A stakeholder and immediate past lawmaker who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the ninth National Assembly, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, gave the charge while announcing his purchase of a yet to be manufactured Lucid electric car.
Bruce who has been advocating for Nigeria to embrace electric cars in order to lessen her over-dependence on fossil fuel, on his verified twitter handle, said Lucid electric cars were better than Tesla models.
The media mogul who tweeted with the hashtag #ClimateAction, said “In practising what I preach, I recently put a deposit on this yet to be manufactured Lucid Electric Car.
“Delivery is early next year. It’s capable of more miles per charge than a Tesla. An amazing machine.
“Nigeria should ban all combustion engine cars by 2035,” Sen. Bruce said.
