17 June 2015, News Wires – Dolphin Geophysical has brought into operation its chartered newbuild vessel Polar Empress with its first job on a multi-client 3D seismic survey in the Barents Sea off Norway.
The high-capacity 22-streamer vessel, which was recently delivered from Norway’s Kleven yard, is generating data from 14 streamers in the so-called Maud Extension shoot and will be mobilised later this month for a subsequent three-month contract, according to the Oslo-listed contractor.
The addition of the GC Rieber-owned vessel increases Dolphin’s fleet of chartered high-end seismic vessels to seven as the company tackles market headwinds that have seen other players lay up vessels as a slump in activity has hit utilisation and dayrates.
