7 December 2011, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – The Nigerian House of Representatives is in the process of introducing a bill that will impose serious sanctions against vandalism of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) facilities.

The House Committee chairman, Hon. Patrick Ikhariale, stated this when he led members of the committee on inspection tour of PHCN facilities in Lagos.

He said the bill became necessary following complaints among the chief executive officers of PHCN’s 11 distribution companies (DISCOs) on equipment theft and vandalism,

He also said his committee was liaising with the Ministry of Power to ensure that the embargo placed on employment in PHCN is lifted as a way of tackling the issue of ageing workforce in company.
