31 October 2018, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, has explained the current power outage in parts of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The power distribution company blamed the power outage on a faulty breaker of a 60MVA power transformer belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

The areas affected by the power outage in Port Harcourt include the entire Rumuolumeni, Mile One Diobu, Borokiri, Eastern Bypass, Forces Avenue, Reclamatio Road, some parts of Aba Road and Spar complex.

PHED Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Johnn Onyi, who gave the clarification, said the faulty breaker is located at Nzimiro Junction, by Aba Road in Port Harcourt, adding that customers on its Silverbird, Rumuolumeni and UTC feeders were affected.

Onyi, however, appealed to the affected customers to exercise patience as the technical crew from TCN has been mobilized to the station with a view to fixing the faulty breaker. He stated that as soon as that is done, power will be restored to affected areas.
