    Boat mishap destroys multi-million Naira goods in Rivers

    Port Harcourt — Hundreds of million Naira goods have been destroyed in a tragic boat mishap which occurred along Port Harcourt-Kula waterways on Friday.

    SweetCrude Reports gathered that a cargo boat conveying multi-million Naira goods from Port Harcourt to Kula in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, capsized and submerged along Bille territory in Degema.

    Although the cause of the boat mishap is not yet ascertained as at the time of filing this report, however, eyewitnesses say no live was lost as rescuers were able to rescue all the 40 passengers onboard the cargo boat.

    Meanwhile, stakeholders have called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and the Rivers State Government to provide relief materials to the affected victims.

    Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Mr Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to provide water taxis for coastal dwellers who ply the waterways on daily basis, to forestall future occurrences.
