Port Harcourt — BUA Cement Plc has signed an agreement with China’s CBMI Construction Limited for a new 3-million-ton-per-annum cement production line in Sokoto, lifting the company’s total installed capacity to 20 million tons per annum and strengthening supply to Nigeria’s North-West and regional markets.

Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, announced the deal in a post on X, describing the project as a major expansion milestone backed by recent economic reforms.

“Thrilled to have signed and sealed with CBMI for a 3-million-ton-per-annum cement line in Sokoto, bringing BUA Cement’s total annual capacity to 20 million tons per annum,” Rabiu said.

He disclosed that the new line will be powered by the company’s Kogi LNG plant, underscoring BUA’s strategy of leveraging gas to drive cost efficiency and cleaner industrial operations.

“Powered by our Kogi LNG plant, it will boost Nigeria’s North-West and regional markets in just 20 months,” Rabiu stated.

Rabiu also linked the accelerated delivery timeline to policy reforms under the Tinubu administration, noting that improved investment conditions are supporting large-scale industrial projects.

“This is happening thanks to the bold reforms of His Excellency, Mr. President,” he added.

The Sokoto expansion further deepens BUA Cement’s footprint in northern Nigeria, positioning the company to meet rising infrastructure demand while reinforcing Nigeria’s domestic cement self-sufficiency and regional export potential.
