19 August 2011, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas, Ifeanyi Ubah yesterday announced N10million cash incentive for the Flying Eagles in appreciation of the performance of the team which crashed out of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

Ubah, during a civic reception he organised in honour of the African champions at Apapa, also presented galaxy ipads to players and officials of the team.

He stated that the N10 million largesse was for the the players and 10 officials of the team.

Lauding the team for doing the nation proud in Colombia in spite of their exit at the quarter-final stage, he said every Nigerian was impressed with the gallantry of the team. “This gesture is just to appreciate the players and also to encourage them to do better in future engagements,” said Ubah, who also announced a night accommodation extension for the team at its hotel lodge in Lagos.

Also speaking, first Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chief Mike Umeh, said the gesture of Capital Oil was a challenge to other corporate organisations as well as well-meaning individuals to aid the growth of football in the country.

Responding, Coach of the team, John Obuh noted that the wonderful reception so far accorded the team would motivate the players to greater heights.

“In fact, my players were thinking of buying ipads and now, they have it for free without going to the market. This is a great investment in the youth and a morale booster which would help other budding players too to strive for excellence,” Obuh said.
