Lagos – The Republic of Chad is seeking for power supply from Nigeria, according to information made available by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.
TCN said in its official Twitter handle that the government of that country wants the Nigerian government to connect it to the Nigerian national power grid.
In announcing the Chadian request, it said: “Meeting between Ministry of Power, TCN, and the Chadian Minister of Energy, Mrs Ramatou Mahamat Houtouin, to discuss the possibilities of connecting the Republic of Chad to the Nigerian national grid [was held] on Wednesday, October 21, 2020,”
The Chadian ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Abakar Chachaimi, had earlier made the request when he visited Nigeria’s minister of power, Sale Mamman, along with a delegation, recently in Abuja.
Besides benefiting from Nigeria in the area of power supply, there is also move for Nigeria’s landlocked neighbouring countries like Niger and Chad to transit their cargoes through Nigerian.
Chad is Nigeria’s immediate neighbour to the north east.
