10 July 2015 – Chevron and OneSubsea are teaming up in a joint venture to develop subsea systems for high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) environments.
The US supermajor and its compatriot, a joint venture between services players Schlumberger and Cameron, are forming a joint industry programme called 20Ksi Subsea System Development Programme, OneSubsea said.
The joint venture “will address the technical challenged presented by (HPHT) reservoir environments for development of 20,000-psi subsea systems”.
OneSubsea will lead the venture “by completing a portfolio of technology development projects and managing the evolution of the required enabling technologies”.
Any solutions may be used to address challenges faced by Chevron and others in high pressure field development.
OneSubsea chief executive Mike Garding said: “OneSubsea uniquely integrates the technology experience and reservoir knowledge that is fundamental to developing reliable, robust and advanced technical solutions required for successfully producing hydrocarbons from challenging HPHT reservoirs.
“By collaborating with Chevron … we can combine expertise to drive the development of economically viable and advanced technology solutions that the subsea industry requires.”
