09 January 2012, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Below are citizen reports of the ongoing Labour protests across the country.

    Nathaniel-Ketu Lagos:
I went to board a bus to my place of work but there was none. The street was deserted and there is no movement of people. Right now policemen are shooting tear gas at Ketu bus stop and a lot of people are injured. The gate of my compound is now locked as people are running for dear lives

    King -Warri
Free movement of people in Warri , but no vehicles on the roads.

    Kenny – Akure
As 9:05am this morning, some vehicles and bikes are still moving along the road, some are even going on with their daily businesses. It doesn’t show as if there is any strike action here in Akure (Ondo-State) capital.

    Kayode- Ibadan
No vehicular movement, even trailers are off the road at Iwo road and Akobo

    Tayo – Calabar
Everything is going on normal here in Calabar, people are trooping out to their places of work, vehicular movement is high from MCC road on the highway to the governor’s office, to barracks road, to Parliamentary road etc.

    Dr. Adefemi Afolabi
Members of the Nigerian Medical Association in Oyo state joined the mass protest from the NLC Secretariat in Yidi area, through Gate area, en route Mapo Hall to occupy Nigeria.

Jonathan should downsize his government and cut allowances drastically.

    Chukwu Ezekiel -Ilesa
Ilesa in Osun state is very hot now, government should do something.

    Usman
Anti subsidy removal protest in Nasarawa town of Nasarawa sate is going on successfully.

    Emeka- Port Harcourt
Police have taken over Port Harcourt and have warned people not protest.

    Osagie. M.O
The Lagos protest is at Ojota with protesters chanting solidarity songs.

At Berger bus stop, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is completely blocked with bonfires on the road.

    Kazeem -Kaduna
The protest in Kaduna is total – there are no movement of vehicles, no electricity, etc. Jonathan should resign if he can’t run Nigeria without removing fuel subsidy.

    Rotimi Dada- Lagos
A fight has broken out between policemen and some area boys, called Agbero at Okokomiako along Badagry Express road. Pls. we need more security men here.

    Nneka Oshiokpu – Ore(Ondo)
The expressway is totally blocked .A bit peaceful though a few miscreants are having a field day.
