Port Harcourt — The federal high court sitting in Port Harcourt has halted the planned inauguration of the Board of Trustees for Obagi oilfield’s Host Community Development Trust Fund, HCDTF, a component of the Petroleum Industry Act.
This is coming on the heels of controversy surrounding the composition of the Board of Trustees for Obagi oilfield; a part of OML58 operated by TotalEnergies/NNPCL Joint Venture in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Judge, Justice J. Pam, granted an order of interim injunction restraining a faction led by Mr Isaac Uchendu and others who claimed to be representative of Obagi oilfield to be inaugurated as the Trustees for Host Community Development Trust Fund.
The court order came following application by counsel to another faction, Mr Gospel Hart and others in a suit against Mr Isaac Unchendu and others, where they claimed that the defendants procured judgment from another court through suppression and misrepresentation of materials.
The order restrained privies, agents, collaborators from presenting themselves, organizing attending or however participating in an inauguration as members of Obagi oilfield Host community Development Trust Fund.
According to the court order, the Managing Director of Total Energies EP Nigeria Limited and the Deputy General Manager of the Petroleum Industry Act’s Transition, have been notified of the order mandating them not to inaugurate or recognize the defendants.
The court further adjourned the matter to the 27th of January, 2023 for hearing.
