Port Harcourt — Following the stay-at-home directive issued by governors in the four states of its operations, as a result of Covik 19 pandemic, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED has assured customers of power supply during the period.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PHED, Dr. Henry Ajagbawa, assured that power supply received from the National Grid would be be distributed accordingly to Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers states, during the period.
Ajagbawa, affirmed the readiness of essential workers to fix any fault that may impede power supply to customers during the stay-at-home period, adding that adequate logistics had been put in place with a view to achieving safe and seamless service delivery.
The PHED boss, who spoke during a strategic meeting with the management team and other stakeholders in Port Harcourt, emphasised the need for maintaining social distancing aimed at keeping both the employees and customers safe, especially at this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
He also disclosed that the employees interfacing staff have been fully equipped with safety tools.
“We assure our customers in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers states that during the stay at home period arising from COVID-19 pandemic as directed by State Governments, power supply received from the National Grid shall be distributed accordingly.
“We want to re-assure our customers as a customer-centric organization that PHED will continue to distribute power as received from the grid.
“Our technical crew will be on ground to fix any fault that may occur in order to ensure that it is distributed accordingly.

“These are some of measures aimed at minimising physical contact,” the PHED boss said.
Experts have advised that spread of COVID-19 could be reduced by observing social distancing in addition to washing hands regularly with soaps and hand sanitizers, among other measures.
