    Cross River to free trucks seized for illegal bunkering

    08 July 2012, Sweetcrude, CALABAR – CROSS River State government plans to release all trucks impounded by it over illegal bunkering in the Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas.

    The state government had asked owners of the trucks to apply for their release about six weeks ago.

    More than 100 tankers were impounded when the state governor, Liyel Imoke, led a team of armed security operatives to raid the hideouts of the fuel thieves in Calabar South, Esuk Mba Beach, Ikang beach and other areas in Bakassi in May.

    The government said in a statement in Calabar that all those affected should contact the office of the State Security Adviser, Mr Rekpene Bassey.

    All applications, the stement said, should reach the office of the security adviser on or before Thursday, July 12.
