Port Harcourt — The Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt Area I Command, has posted a significant revenue surge in the first half of 2025, generating N141.6 billion between January and June, marking a 32.9% increase from the N106.5 billion collected in the same period last year.
The performance, which represents 65.3% of the Command’s annual revenue target of N216.9 billion, also exceeds the mid-year benchmark of N108 billion.
“This reflects a strong year-on-year growth compared to the N43.6 billion and N62.9 billion recorded in the first and second quarters of 2024, respectively. The figures represent increases of N12.5 billion in Q1 and B22.5 billion in Q2,” the Command stated in a press release issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASC II Barilule Aanee, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Yola Hashim.
A breakdown of the earnings shows that the Command collected N56.1 billion in the first quarter and N85.5 billion in the second quarter of 2025.
Comptroller Hashim attributed the performance to the commitment of the officers and men of the Command, improved inter-agency collaboration, and the strategic interventions of Customs Headquarters.
“Our success is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our officers and the unwavering cooperation from our stakeholders and partner agencies operating within the port,” Hashim said.
He also acknowledged the tactical support from Customs Headquarters, noting, “This support has been instrumental in plugging revenue leakages and enhancing operational efficiency within the Command.”
Hashim extended gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Customs Management for their leadership and continuous support.
Looking ahead, the CAC called on stakeholders to intensify efforts to help the Command exceed its revenue goals.
“As we enter the second half of the year, I urge all stakeholders to remain law-abiding and work collectively to ensure we not only meet but surpass our target,” he said.
