19 July 2014, Asaba – An illegal oil dealer will spend the next year in prison for his troubles.
Shedrack Ofose has been convicted and sentenced and imprisoned without the option of a fine for conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum products when he appeared at the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State
Ofose was found guilty of the two-count charge the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prefered against him.
The court also ordered that the exhibit vehicles be auctioned and the proceeds remitted into the Federation Account.
The convict was arrested arraigned in March last year.
The state’s case against him was that in November the previous year he dealt illegally with petroleum products at Kaigbodo waterside in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
He distribute Petroleum Product to with 3 950 litres of Automated Gas Oil (AGO) loaded in ten drums conveyed in a vehicle.
The offence was punishable under Section 4(1) of the Petroleum Act CAP P10 of the Law of the Federation of Nigeria (Revised Edition).
