    Diezani Alison Madueke dedicates Forbes award to Africa’s women

    OPEC Oil Meeting11 October 2014, Abuja – The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has reacted to the Forbes Magazine Best of Africa Award In leadership conferred on her in New York, United States of America

    Speaking during the conferment, Mrs. Alison-Madueke dedicated the award to all women across the globe, especially Nigerian women, adding that the award would spur her to become more dedicated to the ongoing reforms in the petroleum industry.

    Mrs. Alison-Madueke commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for appointing quite a number of women into leadership positions, saying that the President’s action has empowered many women in Nigeria.

    She said the Nigerian Content Act signed into law by President Jonathan has increased indigenous participation in the Oil and Gas Industry which has helped to shore up the gross domestic product of the country.

    Commenting on the award, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Joseph T. Dawha described the Minister as a trail blazer that has succeeded in reforming the Nigerian Petroleum sector.

    Speaking in a similar vein, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele felicitated with Mrs. Alison-Madueke on her well-deserved Forbes Best Africa Award in leadership while pledging his readiness to partner with her to ensure the stability of the power in Nigeria.

    Conferring the award on the Minister, Vice Chairman of Forbes Media LLC in New York, Mr. Christopher Kip Forbes congratulated Mrs. Alison-Madueke for emerging as the winner of Forbes Best Africa Award in leadership in 2014.

    NNPC reiterates commitment to Chad, other inland basin exploratory activities

    The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has restated its determination to sustain the seismic data acquisition activities at the Chad Basin and other inland basins across the country in order to meet the national reserve target by 20:2020.

    The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Joseph T. Dawha stated this in an interview with Oil and Gas Forum in Abuja.

    Dr. Dawha said substantial progress has been made with exploratory activities at the Chad basin adding that the Corporation would ensure that the project is brought to logical conclusion.

    He described the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) as the flagship exploration and production company of the Corporation that is today the largest indigenous gas supplier in Africa.

    The NNPC GMD commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for signing into law the Nigerian Content Development Act in April, 2010 stressing that the NPDC has leveraged on the law to boost its production capacity to 130,000 barrels per day with the anticipation of growing it to 250,000bpd in 20:2020.

    He noted that in the weeks ahead, the President would be performing the ground breaking ceremony of the Ogidigben Gas Industrial Park in Delta State, noting that the industrial park would accommodate petrochemical plants, fertilizer plants and other ancillary industries that would generate massive employment for Nigerians.

    Brass lng moves to change technology and contracting strategy

    In its bid to add a new lease of life to the Brass LNG project, the company has expressed its preparedness to change its technology and adopt a new contracting strategy to boost its operational efficiency.

    The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brass LNG, Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki stated this during the Company’s 10th Annual General Meeting in Lagos.
