    Dorman Long’s FPSO fabrication facility set to commence operations

    25 October 2015, Lagos – Dorman Long Engineering Nigeria Limited is set to launch its fabrication facility based in Onne Oil and Gas free zone in Southern Nigeria.

    Within existing Orlean Invest port infrastructure available in the largest oil and gas free zone in the world, Dorman Long will contribute to fabrication and related services to develop floating production, storage offloading as well as future projects in the Gulf of Guinea region.

    The facility will be equipped to serve the needs of West Africa’s oil and gas, power and telecoms industries as well as heavy industries.

    At present, the facility holds a 17,500m2 covered workshop equipped with CNC Plasma Cutting Machines, Plates rolling, machine of 0-50mm and 51-150mm thickness. It also includes plate edge beveling machines, 300 ton hydraulic press brakes, plate edge milling machines, blasting and painting workshop, covered secured warehousing and maintenance workshop, steel stocking area, amongst others.

    Dr. Timi Austen-Peters, Chairman, Dorman Long is very optimistic that this facility will add value to Nigerian economy.

    “Dorman Long Engineering Nigeria Limited is the only West African company to have consistently held the ASME certification in addition to being an ISO9001 certified company. The company’s services include engineering, materials management, fabrication, galvanizing, asset management, brownfield and marine management,’’ he stated.

    Established originally by Arthur Dorman, and Albert de Lande Long in 1875 with their steel works in England, Dorman Long has operated in Nigeria since 1949 and is one of the oldest and most respected fabrication and construction companies in Africa.
