    30 April 2016, Ilorin –

The Kwara State Controller, Operations, Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Salvation Philips, on Friday said the department had confiscated scores of jerrycans filled with fuel by black marketeers.

NNPCIn an interview with journalists in Ilorin, he warned against patronising the black market, adding that petrol obtained from there could lead to destruction of lives and property.

Philip also said the DPR, in conjunction with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, had impounded two trucks loaded with petrol in the state, adding that the petrol was being diverted

According to him, one of the trucks belongs to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the content was allegedly diverted to a private fuel station, Fabb Oil and Gas Limited located in Tanke, Ilorin, while the other belongs to Conoil.

He said the Conoil truck had 46,000 litres of petrol, while that of the NNPC had discharged 7,800 litres; 13,000 litres of fuel was still in the truck when it was impounded.

He stated that appropriate sanctions would be meted out to the culprits after the completion of investigations.

He urged all petroleum marketers to do their business legally and in compliance with petroleum laws and the DPR regulations and directives.

Philip said, “This particular truck is an NNPC truck, but we have got the name of the transporter, Profelick. We have a serious interest in this because this is the NNPC product that has been diverted. This is a classical case of economy sabotage.

“The government is doing its best within the scarce available resources and some few elements in our midst are trying to thwart the good intentions of the government to make the product available.
