    Eastern Marine Customs intercepts smuggled items valued at N7.1 million

    19 June 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — THE Eastern Marine Command OF THE Nigeria Customs Service said it intercepted prohibited items in its Oron and Calabar outstations.

    The seized items include 370 bags of foreign rice and used and expired tires valued at N7.1million.

    In a statement by the command’s Comptroller, Masaya Ajiya said that while 245 bags of rice were intercepted at its Calabar outstation, 125 bags were seized at the Oron outstation.

    Ajiya, however, warned smugglers to desist from their illegal activities saying that “ the Command will not condone any action of smugglers within the Eastern Marine Command”.

    The command boss assured that the Command will encourage genuine business activities within the Zone.
