Lagos — The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, says it will commence Token Identifier, TID, rollover by the end of next month – February. This is part of the process for the Standard Transfer Specification, STS, prepaid meter upgrade.

The company said in a statement by its Head of Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh, that customers were notified that upgrading their meters is compulsory to avoid losing their meters and experiencing a disruption in power supply.

Ezeh, in the statement, urged customers to update their information through a specific link provided by the company, noting that the update process will involve the verification of each customer’s meter number, mobile number, and email address.

He noted that after the rollover, customers’ first energy purchase will include three sets of 20-digit tokens which are to reset, upgrade and recharge the meter.

He said: “After the rollover, the first energy purchase by customers will come with three sets of 20-digit tokens (KCT1, KCT2 & the energy token).

“The first 20 digits (KCT1) are to reset the meter, the second 20 digits (KCT2) are to upgrade the meter, and the third 20 digits (energy token) are to recharge the meter and complete the upgrade process.

“Customers are expected to punch in the first 20 digits, which is the KCT1, and press “enter”, and simultaneously punch in the second 20 digits, which is the KCT2 and press “enter,” and lastly, the third 20 digits, which is the energy, token, to complete the upgrade process.”

Ezeh advised customers to buy sufficient energy units as there will be a temporary shutdown of the vending platform, encouraging customers who have a habit of stockpiling tokens without loading them to load them prior to the upgrade, as these tokens will be invalid after the upgrade.
