10 March 2014, Cairo – The Egyptian government has said it would open envelopes of the two tenders of private sector projects of the Gulf of Suez’s wind energy with capacities reaching 250 megawatts on 18 May.
Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, who disclosed this, said a tender for Dairut power station with capacities reaching 2250 megawatts will start on 19 May.
Minister Shaker stressed that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company is committed to purchase energy to be produced by these projects for 25 years in order to be sold for consumers at the prices to be determined by the Cabinet.
