    …Targets 100,000 installations in 2016

Kunle Kalejaye 16 March 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos – The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, has concluded plans to partner with local meter manufacturing company, Mojec International, to kick-off installation of smart prepaid meters to customers within its network.

NERC-Metering-696x358EKEDC made this known after its official undertook a tour of its Central Store located at Ijora Olapa area of Lagos State to inspect Mojec’s smart prepaid meters in stock there, ready for deployment to 100,000 customers before the end of this year.
Managing Director, EKEDC, Engineer Oladele Amoda, said: “This new prepaid meters roll out plan is a massive one. As you can see, we have several thousands of smart meters in our store and our engineers are ready to commence installation to the customers.
“We want to assure all our customers that we would not relent in our efforts to ensure all customers are provided with prepaid meters within a few months.”
Amoda, who assured customers of the company’s commitment to eradicate estimated billing, noted that it was the major issue that led to customers’ dissatisfaction and distrust under the default Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
He reiterated EKEDC’s resolve to continually improve on its distribution network to enhance consumers’ satisfaction as he commended Mojec International for their resolve and commitment to provide quality meters.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director, Mojec International Limited, Ms. Chantelle Abdul, explained that the company’s  prepaid meters are tropicalised for the Nigeria environment to withstand the weather condition such as temperature, humidity, meter tampering and energy theft.
