Port Harcourt — Nigeria’s offshore oil production has recorded another success milestone as ExxonMobil’s Erha Floating Production, Storage and Offloading, FPSO, facility sustains a steady output of 75,000 barrels per day, underscoring operational efficiency and investor confidence in the nation’s upstream sector.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, who disclosed this after inspecting the Erha FPSO, said the facility represents a model of excellence in offshore operations, demonstrating both technological innovation and safety leadership in Nigeria’s deepwater assets.

“The Erha FPSO, operated by ExxonMobil, exemplifies progress in our offshore environment. With a steady production capacity of 75,000 barrels per day, the facility showcases operational excellence, technological innovation, and a strong commitment to safety,” Lokpobiri stated.

According to the Minister, his visits to production facilities are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the government’s energy policies are yielding tangible results in productivity and efficiency across the value chain.

“Visiting platforms allows me to see firsthand how our energy industry is faring, identifying areas that require attention, and assessing the progress of our policies,” he said.

He explained that the government’s commitment to continuous engagement with operators has enhanced collaboration, leading to greater efficiency and transparency in operations.

“These visits provide a clear understanding of how collaborative efforts between government and industry players continue to advance the objectives of efficiency, transparency, and sustainable growth,” Lokpobiri added.

The Minister reaffirmed that the federal government remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s offshore sector remains competitive, secure, and profitable for investors.
