24 July 2015, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Projected volumes of ultra-low sulfur diesel tracked on tankers that are due to arrive in European ports over August are currently at 1.4 million tons on 28 ships, according to the OPIS Europe Diesel Tanker Tracker.
That includes four tankers chartered to load four ULSD shipments totaling 380,000 tons from the Saudi Arabian port of Yanbu on the Red Sea, most likely from the newly commissioned Yasref refinery.
The tally is likely to expand sharply as more tankers are chartered over the coming weeks to load and deliver ULSD to Europe.
During July some 3.77 million tons of ULSD is estimated to arrive in Europe, including 1.4 million tons from the U.S., and 1.54 million tons from Russia, the biggest supplier, based on information compiled from brokers, traders and satellite tracking data.
Exports from the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk are estimated to be at 1.23 million tons, with Europe-bound ULSD shipments from all Baltic ports at 1.925 million.
Imports of ULSD to the 28 member countries have averaged 3.26 million tons in the first four months of 2015, according to the latest available data from Eurostat, the European Commission’s statistics database.
