14 October 2015, News Wires – Wang Yongchun, the former deputy manager of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), has been handed a lengthy jail sentence for corruption, according to a report.
The former top executive at the Chinese oil giant and parent PetroChina was sentenced to 20 years in jail following a trial in central China, Reuters reported.
Wang’s trial started in July in Xiangyang, central Hubei province, where he was charged with “serious disciplinary offences”.
Wang, who was charged in March, was put under investigation in August 2013 before being removed from his post the same month and later expelled from the ruling Communist Party in June last year.
Authorities in Hubei province then filed charges with the Xiangyang Intermediate People’s Court.
