ExxonMobil employee charities set new record

30 November 2011, Sweetcrude, Virginia – Employees of ExxonMobil’s Fairfax, Virginia campus, raised more than $2.8 million for local community and charitable organisations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area during the 2011 Employees’ Favorite Charities Campaign.

This amount establishes a new record for the campaign, eclipsing last year’s amount of $2.7 million. Since its inception in 2002, the campaign has raised nearly $21 million for charitable organisations in the Washington, D.C. area.

“Once again, our employees have continued their proud tradition of giving in the communities where we live and work,” said Karen T. McKee, chair of ExxonMobil’s Fairfax campus’ 2011.

This year, employees contributed to 555 charities with nearly half qualifying for ExxonMobil’s charitable matching programme

As a result, 243 local non-profit organisations providing health and human services will receive contributions from the Exxon Mobil Corporation in addition to the individual contributions made by employees.

“This is a significant achievement, especially in these challenging economic times when funding for many worthy organisations has declined while demand for their services has increased,” McKee said.

“Once again, our employees have continued their proud tradition of giving in the communities where we live and work.”

ExxonMobil has a long history of supporting community groups and educational organizations in the greater Washington, D.C. area, not only through financial contributions and grants, but also through the time and dedication of thousands of employees and retirees who volunteer for various organizations across the region.
