Lagos — The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Capital Territory Command, has joined forces with the Diplomatic Village Clinic to host a health and wellness programme for officers, their families, and members of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association, COWA, in Abuja.

The programme was part of ongoing efforts to promote work–life balance and ensure personnel remain physically fit, mentally alert, and socially balanced. Medical check-ups, vision screening, and physical activities such as stretching, table tennis, and other fitness routines were conducted during the event.

Customs Area Controller of the FCT Command, Comptroller Chinwe Aliboh, underscored that good health is not merely the absence of disease but a state of complete well-being. She encouraged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to safeguard their health.

She said: “This programme is in line with the CGC’s mandate on work–life balance, which is aimed not only at ensuring that officers are physically and medically fit to carry out their statutory duties effectively, but also at achieving quality personal lives with loved ones.

“We need to note that good health is not just the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. It is our responsibility to prioritise our general well-being, with vision and physical fitness being a fundamental aspect of wellness.”

Director of the Diplomatic Village Clinic, Dr. Chuma Mark’Olex, stressed that regular check-ups and fitness activities are vital to sustaining officers’ readiness and overall performance.

Participants described the programme as timely and beneficial, commending the Service for prioritising their welfare and well-being.

The event reflects the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to foster a healthier, more motivated workforce through targeted welfare initiatives.
