16 January 2012, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Few hours after the nationwide strike was called-off by the Organized Labour under the aegis of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and its’ affiliate unions in the aviation industry, flight operations began in earnest at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos.

Vanguard was at the Domestic terminal (MMA2), the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and observed that as soon as the strike was suspended passengers started trooping to the various wing of the airport to catch up with their flights.

At the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) it was observed that although flight operations was not taking place at the time of the report, passengers were seen trying to get their tickets in order to get their flights.

Meanwhile at the Murtala Muhammed Domestic Terminal2, (MMA2), Vanguard reports that passengers were seen on queues trying to purchase their tickets while others were on their way to board their flights.

Airlines that were seen operating at the terminal includes FirstNation airline, Dana airline, IRS airline, Aero airline, Air Nigeria amongst others.

At the time of this report, passengers of Dana airline were even boarding on their flight which was scheduled to take off by 5pm.

Efforts to contact officials of the airlines to comment on the situation at the moment proved abortive as they were very busy after more more than a week of flight disruptions.
