Lagos — FORMER Senior Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on maritime matters, Mr. Leke Oyewole, has disassociated himself from the internal crisis currently rocking Global West Specialist Vessels Limited, a company allegedly associated with Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, Oyewole said that he left the company long before its crisis started adding that he was not abreast with the current state of the firm.

He explained that the moment he was appointed into Jonathan’s administration, he resigned his position from the firm for fear of conflict of interest.

Oyewole also said that since he resigned from the organization, he had no reason to return back to the firm adding that whatever that is currently happening there is also new to him.

Recall that fresh ownership crisis is rocking Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited (GWVSNL) that handled the suspended maritime security contract.

It was learned that the bubble burst recently in the company when one of the children of Late Captain Romeo Itami, the founder of the company, petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to thoroughly investigate the finances of the company after the death of their father over financial impropriety.

Kevin Itima, one of the children of the late Capt Romeo Itami, at the airing of a documentary tagged ‘Price of a dream’ in honour of the late Itima in Lagos over the weekend, said their father had a share of over 50 percent in GWVSL before his death.

Kevin further alleged that his uncle has been withdrawing cash in large amounts from the company’s accounts into his personal account.

He also alleged that majority shares of the Global West Company are now being diverted which according to him does not follow due process.

Kevin also said that all effort to call a meeting so as to resolve the crisis failed hence the petition to EFCC.
