29 November 2013, News Wires – US independent Hess has been blocked from exploring for unconventional resources near the French capital Paris, according to a report.
The French government has rejected the New York-listed player’s request to take over seven permits granted to Canada’s Toreador Resources in 2010, Reuters reported, citing Energy Minister Philippe Martin.
France has already banned fracturing but Hess had submitted the requests arguing that it did not need to use any banned techniques. This has been dismissed by the government, however, the news wire reported.
The fracking ban put a halt to drilling and drilling preparatory plans for Hess, Toreador, Vermilion Energy, Schuepbach Energy and French supermajor Total.
