27 October 2015, Akure – Scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol, which was slightly noticed in Akure, the Ondo state capital, and some towns in the state on Monday, got worse on Tuesday as long queues of vehicles were seen at various filling stations.
While some of the independent marketers claimed that PMS was not available for sale, some that are selling dispensed the product at the rate of N100 per litre rather than the official pump price of N87.
However, checks revealed that many marketers that had the product deliberately refused to sell in anticipation of a worse situation when they could sell at a higher price.
A manager of one of the petrol stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the product was available at his station but he had been instructed by his boss not to sell until further notice.
