Yenagoa — Ghana’s Petroleum Commission has lauded Nigeria’s pioneering local content framework and pledged to strengthen regional partnerships aimed at building skills, industrial capacity, and cross-border value chains.
The remarks came from Acting Deputy CEO, Ghana Petroleum Commission, Nasir Alfa Mohammed at the 14th Practical Nigerian Content, PNC, Forum 2025, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State
“Nigeria has led the way in local content, inspiring peers across Africa. We are committed to translating this leadership into practical, actionable programs that benefit our industries and communities,” Mohammed said.
He highlighted 15 years of cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria, noting formal technical exchanges and regulatory agreements that have supported workforce development and supplier growth.
“Interoperable procurement and joint training programs are essential to empower local enterprises and equip professionals with the right skills,” he added.
The Ghanaian official emphasized that regional collaboration in oil and gas is vital for creating jobs, strengthening industrialization, and deepening integration across Africa’s energy sector.
“Our ambition is to develop platforms that ensure skills and investments circulate within the region, benefiting both countries and the broader continent,” Mohammed said.
He referenced previous engagements, including the 12th Local Content Conference and Exhibition in Nigeria, where priorities like workforce development, supplier growth, and cross-border partnerships were reaffirmed.
“We are ready to deepen partnerships, exchange lessons, and pursue initiatives that grow the local industry while securing a brighter energy future for our people,” Mohammed added.
The Deputy CEO concluded with a call for continued cooperation, expressing confidence that Nigeria-Ghana local content collaboration will remain strong and mutually beneficial.
“On behalf of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission of Ghana, I wish delegates fruitful deliberations and enduring collaborations,” he said, prompting applause from the forum attendees.
The remarks underscore the growing pan-African commitment to local content development, signaling that Nigeria’s framework is increasingly shaping continental energy policies and fostering regional integration.
