14 August 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Tee Mac Petroleum Company, TMPC, Tee Mac Iseli, has called on the government to pay compensations to militant foot soldiers instead of their leaders.
He made the statement during an interview with SweetcrudeReports.
Tee Mac while speaking about the struggles of militants and what can be done to stop the menace of militancy in the Niger Delta, said that militants should be compensated and rehabilitated, adding, however, that the foot soldiers should be settled directly.
“Yes I visited all of them in the creeks 8 years ago, and I was part of the peace process ….well they need to be compensated and rehabilitated. It would have been wiser to settle the foot soldiers directly than to give the money to their leaders to distribute,” he said.
On whether or not developments have taken place in the Niger Delta through the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, funds, he said contrary to popular beliefs there has been development in the Niger Delta.
“There has been some development, but you know the Nigeria Factor, so I do not need to dwell on that,” he said.
On the Ogoni cleanup, he said although it has been slow, yet, it is better than nothing.
“It has been very slow, the Hon Minister left for the United Nation and a new Minister was just assigned. Better slow than never but it has to be done now!”, he said.
