…Says Supreme Court ruled in Akwa Ibom favour

Port Harcourt — Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared that there is no dispute between Akwa Ibom and Cross River states over the ownership of 76 oil wells, emphasising that the Supreme Court has twice ruled in favour of Akwa Ibom.

Speaking at the monthly Government House prayer meeting, Governor Eno urged citizens to ignore any distractions on the matter, stressing that Cross River has been legally declared a non-littoral state.
“This issue has been settled by the Supreme Court. There is no dispute. I urge our people not to be drawn into discussions over a matter that has already been legally resolved,” he stated.
The governor also condemned external influences attempting to discredit past and present Akwa Ibom leaders, describing the accusations as baseless.
“It is difficult to understand how individuals who are not from Akwa Ibom seek to run down our leaders on false allegations. As Governor, I have seen no evidence supporting such claims,” he declared.
Governor Eno unveiled a state procurement portal, allowing transparent access to over 400 government contracts and urged qualified contractors and business owners to register.
“We have major projects such as the Aviation Village, Commissioners’ Quarters, Legislators’ Quarters, and Judges’ Quarters. These contracts will go to qualified Akwa Ibom people, not just a select few,” he assured.
He emphasized merit over personal connections, vowing that government contracts will be awarded fairly and competitively.
    > “We must build a state where people can bid for and secure jobs without needing personal connections in power,” he insisted.
Governor Eno also discouraged idleness, urging citizens to embrace hard work and self-reliance.
“Do not sit at home expecting handouts. When you work, you will earn your wages and make profits,” he advised.
Following the successful Town Hall and Equipment Support Scheme meetings in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Governor Eno announced that the next Town Square Meeting will be held in Oron Federal Constituency, with the date to be announced soon.
