Port Harcourt — Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has charged the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to give attention to uncompleted projects abandoned by the Commission in the state, before embarking on new ones.
Governor Otti, speaking when he received the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, said prioritising the completion of these abandoned projects would be for the benefit of all Nigerian citizens.
The governor emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and the government of Abia State to achieve more impactful development outcomes not only within the state but also across the entire Niger Delta Region.
Responding, the Minister said his visit was aimed at assessing ongoing projects, exploring collaboration opportunities, and addressing pertinent issues concerning the region’s development.
Momoh said the visit signifies a renewed commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at accelerating development, fostering inclusivity, and improving the quality of life for the people of Abia State and the wider Niger Delta Region.
He commended Governor Otti for what he described as “remarkable developmental achievements within a relatively short period since assuming office,” and urged the governor to maintain the momentum and assured him of the Ministry’s commitment to supporting such transformative initiatives.
Minister Momoh further embarked on an inspection tour of various ongoing projects across Abia State, including the 2.5km Ntigha Umuopara Amuzu Akanu Ohanze Isiala Road in Obingwa LGA.
Others are, land reclamation and erosion control project in Ogudu Asa; rehabilitation of Okaiga Nkwoegwu Primary and Secondary School in Umuahia North; emergency road construction from Obehie Junction to NDDC Abia State Office in Oke-Ikpe, Ukwa West; emergency repairs of unmotorable sections of Amaku to Umuomianta Mbawsi Road.
