11 December 2014, Abuja — NIGERIA’S failure to halt gas flaring costs the country about N4 trillion annually, Director Recruitment and Appointment in the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Dr. Famous Eseduwo has revealed.
Eseduwo however, submitted that if properly developed and harnessed, Nigeria stands to benefit from its gas potentials than crude oil.
The FRSC director said yesterday in Abuja at the public presentation of his book titled, “Gas Flaring and Re-injection Policy-Making in Nigeria” that the proposed Gas Master plan put in place by government may not achieve the desired results except the policy is driven by indigenous stakeholders in the petroleum sector.
He explained: “Flaring has become a major problems in this country, we need all government agencies responsible for environmental issues to join hands with government to put an end to it.
