24 October 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA – NIGERIA’s Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, Tuesday, said there was no going back in efforts to overhaul the country’s power transmission infrastructure across the country to stabilise power supply.

Maku disclosed this during an inspection of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, sub-station in Makeri, Jos.

He said: “Stable power supply is key to Nigeria’s economic development. Be assured that there will be greater efficiency in power generation and stability soon.

Earlier, Principal Manager, Transmission, Thomas Duniya, said the construction of 120 megawatt power sub-station had been completed.

He said: “The project was executed in partnership with the Plateau State Government, which spent N47 million to compensate landowners before the project took off.

“Once the sub-station is energised, there would be stability of electricity in the Jos South District. Initially, the entire district was supplied with electricity through 33kv line, but with the completion of the sub-station, power would be supplied through a 132 KV line with 6 feeders.”
