09 May 2012, Sweetcrude, UGHELLI – CHAIRMAN of the Urhobo Educational Advancement Network, Mr. Leo Agbonifo, has urged the Federal Government to appoint a substantive Vice-Chancellor and Registrar for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, FUPRE, Delta State.

Agbonifo, who fielded questions from newsmen, insisted on the appointment of an Urhobo indigene as Vice Chancellor of the new university that had been engulfed in crisis.

Lamenting that the Governing Council of the university was dissolved in the wake of the crisis, he appealed for the constitution of a new one that would facilitate the appointment of a VC and Registrar for the university.

He noted that prolonged absence of a substantive VC and Registrar in the university may worsen the already slow growth of the institution.
