01 October 2015, News Wires – A North Dakota man involved in the Bakken shale fields has pleaded guilty to a murder-for-hire scheme targeting two of his business associates and now faces four decades in prison.
James Henrikson, 36, admitted last week in federal court in Spokane, Washington, that he ordered the deaths of Kristopher Clarke and Doug Carlile, associates tied to a hydraulic fracturing venture in North Dakota’s oilfields.
Federal prosecutors will seek a 40-year prison term when Henrikson is sentenced 18 December, the Associated Press reported.
Other conspirators in the deaths have received sentences between eight years and 30 years, according to the news wire.
Investigators pieced together a web of conspiracies leading to contract killings and assaults on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota and elsewhere.
Henrickson and Carlile had reportedly invested in a 640-acre parcel in the area and later had a falling out over the land.
