12 May 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The National House of Assembly will hold a hearing on the host community bill next week, SweetCrudeReports has learnt.

According to a source close to the situation, the bill will be debated on the floor of the house next week Thursday.

After that, the bill will move to the Senate for the second reading.

The bill is one part of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill,  PIGB presently being debated by the House and Senate.

Currently, only the administrative bill has scaled through the first and second reading, awaiting assent by the President indicating its passage into law.

The bill when passed into law will seek to address the needs, especially the 10 percent entitlement for the host communities where oil production takes place, including the needs of communities hosting pipelines and tank farms.
