05 February 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos – In a demonstration of its commitment towards youth development, Ikeja Electric Plc recently organised a youth empowerment programme to train 40 participants across its network coverage area.

The two-week vocational training was held at the community vocational centre at Oshodi, Lagos, providing participants with the opportunity to hone their culinary and entrepreneurial skills, with a view to setting up small-scale businesses.

In a statement, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, explained that the initiative is in line with the company’s Personal Corporate Social Responsibilities (PCSR) and that it was designed to empower youth with entrepreneurial skills which will help reduce the level of unemployment across the country.

“At Ikeja Electric, we are deeply passionate about providing opportunities for Nigerian youths to hone their entrepreneurial skills through various platforms because we believe that there are millions of youth out there who need the right opportunities and support to develop. That is why we will continually strive to create the avenues for youth empowerment, “he said.

Ofulue described the project as one of the ways which Ikeja Electric continues to enrich lives of youths across its network in a bid to help them achieve their dreams and aspirations
