24 January 2019, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — The governorship candidate of Accord in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, says if elected he will make the state the oil capital of the country, by creating oil and gas clusters in the state.
Lulu-Briggs who is the son of late oil magnate and founder of Moni Pulo Limited, High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs, disclosed this while receiving the governorship flag from the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Nalado, in Port Harcourt.
The governorship candidate explained that the oil and gas clusters which would be established in different parts of the state, would not only create employment but will serve as a means of empowerment for the people.
According to him, “We have a vision that will enrich the state and not steal from it. Our mission is to make human capital development our principle.
“We shall create oil and gas clusters in Ogoni, Egi, Etche, and Sombriero. I shall be known not as Mr. Project but as Mr. Jobs.
“To achieve this, we will stand by the sincerity of purpose and dedication to duty. If we get the 2019 election right, we will get the economy right because the economy says it all.
“I will run a government where merit shall be rewarded. We will build stronger institutions and communities where poverty shall be banished.”
The governorship candidate of Accord Party also assured that his government, if elected, will invest massively in housing, tourism as well as oil and gas development.
“We shall create millionaires and billionaires. We shall be known by the number of Rivers people, who by our efforts own homes.
“We have to recover lost grounds, Rivers State can be the California of Nigeria and if we cannot make it the California of Nigeria, then we have to be the Texas of Nigeria.
“This is the reason I am offering myself to be governor of Rivers State.”
