Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, says investment in CNG and LNG infrastructure remains a critical component of the President Tinubu-led administration’s strategy to ensure energy security, while promoting cleaner alternatives to fossil fuels.
Ekpo spoke while commissioning the 3.1million standard cubic feet per day Compressed Natural Gas facility and groundbreaking for the 5.2 MMscfd Liquefied Natural Gas facility by Tetracore Energy Group in Ogun State, recently.
The Minister noted that investments in gas infrastructure were pivotal for Nigeria’s energy security and reflected his commitment to diversifying energy sources and promoting cleaner fuels.
He commended the management of Tetracore Energy Group for their significant investment in the gas projects, saying that their contributions were vital steps in enhancing Nigeria’s energy security.
He said, “Developing CNG and LNG facilities is a critical component of our strategy to ensure energy security for our people while promoting cleaner alternatives to traditional fossil fuels.
“Natural gas is a crucial element in the global transition towards sustainable energy systems. By using CNG in transportation, we can reduce our reliance on imported fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with our commitments to the Paris Agreement and national climate goals. These projects will drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for our citizens.
“President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment that encourages investment in the gas sector. This includes implementing favorable policies, providing incentives for infrastructure development, and ensuring regulatory frameworks that promote efficiency and sustainability.
“I am optimistic that Tetracore Energy Group’s projects will catalyze further investments in the gas industry, fostering innovation and enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure. Through such initiatives, we can achieve our shared vision of a prosperous energy future for Nigeria.”
