29 April 2013, Lagos – Chairman, South West Branch of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Mr. Olumide Ogunmade, has donated 10 operational vehicles, on behalf of the association, to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to assist it in the war against pipeline vandalism.
According to Ogunmade, who handed over the vehicles to the NNPC Mosimi depot management, the action formed part of efforts by the association to help curb the activities of pipeline vandals in the zone.
He made the donation on Friday during the re-launch of IPMAN’s anti-vandalism security outfit.
The IPMAN chief said it had become necessary to carry out 24-hour security surveillance along pipelines routes in System B2 in the South-West as he expressed belief that the vandals on System B2 of the pipelines would soon be stamped outs, adding that enough security personnel had been employed to safeguard pipelines in the zone.
“By this donation of fleet of operational vehicles, we are sending a clear message to the vandals that the drum beat has changed as well as the dancing steps. The System B2 is no longer a no-go area for the vandals.
“They have ruined our economy and our business. They are destroying the nation’s legacies. We want to say that enough is enough. We are now coming out forcefully on the vandals.
“We are not going to condone this illegal activity anymore. Today, we do not have fuel at Ore depot, but we have fuel in the system. Why must they because of selfish interest ruin the lives of many Nigerians? Our economy is fuel driven,” he said.
Ogunmade also promised that the group would purchase more vehicles to boost thes urveillance and to check the activities of the economic saboteurs in the zone.
