15 April 2014, Warri – The traditional ruler of Akugbene Mein Kingdom in Delta State, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to address the power supply problem facing the riverine communities in the state.
He said that some of the riverside communities in Kpakiama, headquarters of the Bomadi Local Government Area that were connected to the national grid have no electricity, while many others were in total darkness.
The monarch, in a statement after a meeting of the Akugbene-Mein Kingdom Council of Chiefs in his palace, also urged the President to direct the anti-corruption agencies to step up the fight against corruption.
He said that the Federal Government should effectively direct the security agencies in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency, which had claimed hundreds of innocent lives.
On the ongoing national conference in Abuja, the monarch commended the President for convening the historical gathering to brainstorm on the issues bedeviling the nation and proffer solutions.
