Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has announced that Prof. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-chairman of the Board’s Governing Council, will headline the Q3 2025 edition of its Business Mentorship Lecture Series, BMLS.

The session, scheduled for next Monday, September 8th, 2025, will hold virtually via Zoom Webinar and NCDMB’s YouTube channel, with Richmond Osuji, an industry compere, as moderator.

Prof. Kachikwu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and one-time OPEC President, is expected to share his vast industry experience and insights with operators, contractors, and stakeholders across Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain.

“We are honoured to have a visionary like Prof. Kachikwu share his expertise in our Business Mentoring Series. His remarkable journey and contributions will undoubtedly motivate emerging companies, driving sustainable development in the oil and gas value chain,” said NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe.

Kachikwu, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost energy leaders, spearheaded transformative policies such as the National Gas Policy (2017) and National Petroleum Policy (2017) during his tenure as minister, and played a critical role in advancing the Petroleum Industry Bill.

He is also the author of four books on Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, launched in 2021, and boasts a distinguished academic pedigree with a first-class law degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an LLM from Harvard Law School, where he graduated top of his class.

Internationally, Kachikwu has served as President of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC; the African Petroleum Producers Organization, APPO; and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, GECF.

He was honoured with the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, among several recognitions for leadership and public service.

Launched in 2019 under Section 67 of the NOGICD Act, the BMLS is one of NCDMB’s flagship capacity-building programmes, designed to equip indigenous service companies with strategic business knowledge, advisory support, and motivation to thrive in the sector.

Under Engr. Ogbe’s leadership, the Board has strengthened its human capacity development initiatives, including the Centre for Marine and Offshore Technology Development, CMOTD, training and the graduate-trainee scheme with PFL Engineering.

Previous editions of the BMLS have featured industry heavyweights such as Atedo Peterside, Tony Attah, Mutiu Sunmonu, Mike Sangster, and Elohor Aiboni, collectively empowering over 2,500 service companies since inception.
