01 April 2017, Sweetcrude, Abuja – Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has revealed that he would be at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference, OTC, in Houston, Texas in the United States with the intention of marketing Nigeria’s marginal oil fields bid rounds to potential investors.
The annual OTC, which attracts top oil and gas industry experts and players as well as industry enthusiasts, holds in Houston from May 1.
There is no date yet for Nigeria’s marginal field rounds but Kachikwu said the rounds could be completed between 2018 and 2019.
Kachikwu disclosed this at the maiden Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair, NOGOF, organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The minister did not say the locations of the marginal oil fields or the number to be offered for bidding but he said the process will begin with a roadshow in Houston.
