Port Harcourt — A young woman and two of her toddlers, have been burnt to death in a kerosene fire explosion which occurred inside their one-room apartment in Alikor Estate, Choba, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident which happened in the early hours of today, according to eye witnesses, was caused by the suspected adulterated kerosene the victim had poured into her cooking stove.
Our correspondent gathered that the husband to the deceased woman had left the house earlier before the fire incident happened.
An eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that the kerosene stove the deceased mother of two children used in cooking inside her room exploded which resulted in the fire that killed the three family members.
The eyewitness explained that the kerosene must have been illegally refined product, otherwise known as kpo-fire.
According to him, “We heard that the husband of the woman left early in the morning around 6am, and around 8am, the fire which killed the woman and her two children started.
“The kerosene stove exploded and caused the fire inside their one room, maybe they were using adultrated kerosene.”

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, DSP Nnmandi Omoni, said the Police was aware of the incident, although details were still sketchy.
“Yes, I can confirm that incident, the command is aware of it.
“However, the details of the incident are still sketchy, but the remains of the dead bodies have been evacuated to the mortuary by men of the Divisional Police Headquarter in that area.”
