Lagos — The Lagos State Government has sealed up 11 illegal petrol stations.
A statement on Tuesday by the state’s Public Affairs, Abimbola Emdin-Umeh, titled ‘LASG clamps down on illegal gas/filling stations, receives petitions’, and quoting the General Manager LASPPPA, Funmi Osifuye, said the activity was carried out through its Physical Planning Permit Authority.
According to her, the move was made as it reinforces clampdown on illegally sited gas plants and other illegal businesses in the state.
Osifuye said, “Thirty structures including 11 petrol stations and 19 others – shopping malls, hotels and supermarkets have been sealed by LASPPPA at the Agbado Ipaja District area for contravention of the physical planning laws.”
He stated that the agency received mounting petitions from Community Development Associations and concerned individuals, who wrote to express their concerns regarding structures that posed dangers to their communities.
