15 November 2012, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – THE Lagos State government says it has trained 15 candidates of its Youth Energy Career Programme, YECP, on power/energy generation and management.
General Manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board, LSEB, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi, stated this while announcing plans by the government to host a career breakfast for the YECP pioneering candidates on Friday.
Ogunbiyi said in a statement that YECP is one of the state’s energy initiatives in conjunction with Siemens, and funded by Senator Gbenga Ashafa.
She stated that the programme, which is being coordinated by LSEB, was aimed at developing well-trained energy/power development professionals eligible for employment in the Nigerian energy sector.
She said, “The YECP is uniquely designed as a six-month paid internship entailing training at Siemens, and work placements at LSEB.
“After a rigorous selection process involving over a thousand candidates, these 15 candidates emerged and commenced the program since April 4, 2012.
“They have been equipped with knowledge from modules such as general electrical engineering principles, protection of electrical networks, the smart grid, power distribution economics, managing power projects and renewable energy.”
